NSAA Wetzel Cabin

Generous lifetime members and dedicated volunteers, Gordon & Linda Wetzel have donated this cabin to NSAA. This dry, off the grid cabin is 438 square feet located in the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area in Willow, about 1.25 hours (75 mi) North from Anchorage.

The cabin has beds for 5 and 1 futon. Inside the cabin is cozy and comfortable, with a kitchen table, a propane cooking stove, two wood stoves, two LED lanterns, an assortment of dishes and cutlery, and plenty of space for 5-6 to sleep and lounge around. The outhouse is a short walk from the cabin, and the tool shed has wood cutting tools and kayaks for renters to use. Water is available at the lake and must be treated before consumption.

Cabin is located on a lake and fishing is great off the dock. Renters also have access to life jackets, paddles, and secure access to a canoe, which is stored at Nancy Lake Canoe Launch parking lot. Parking at the canoe launch is free. Nancy Lakes State Recreation Area has year-round recreation opportunities, including kayaking, canoeing, skiing, snow machining, biking and hiking. The cabin is available to rent 365 days a year; however, it is lake accessible only. Please be considerate of private property and do not access the cabin by land. NSAA members do not have permission from other land owners to use the land trails. The shoulder season in the fall and spring when the ice is present on the lake can make travel unsafe.
